Why Values? Why now?

As we move further into the unique social and developmental environment of the 21st century, human activity is transforming the very nature of our environment on a scale not seen before in our history.

Faced with this challenge, we need a systematic understanding what we want from life, what we care about, how our core beliefs are formed and the behaviours we adopt to bring these preferences to life.

A framework that allows us to understand the relationship between our own and others’ values, provides a transformational perspective for understanding the human condition and the world around us, and offers deep insight into our motivation, decision making, behaviour and life choices.

The Contemporary Values Framework (CVF) has been designed with exactly this purpose in mind.

The CVF provides an invaluable resource for personal and organisational development. It also offer valuable insight for those seeking to undertake effective action on the issues that confront us at the personal, societal and wider global scales of human activity.

A framework that allows us to understand the relationship between our own and others’ values, provides a transformational perspective for understanding the human condition and the world around us.

The CVF incorporates an understanding of what contemporary science can tell us about human behaviour. It directly reflects lived experience of the diverse range of people living their lives and making their way in the complex and turbulent world of the 21st century.

Many of our values and beliefs about the world are held unconsciously, so coming to terms with our own values is not a straightforward task. Understanding the diverse range of values held by others is an even more challenging task!

The CVF is a systematic way to explore the topic of human motivation and behaviour, through the lens of values. This holistic approach includes a wide range of resources and pathways to help us better understand ourselves and the world around us.
